Our Story

Will Easy was founded by Matt Mennell, a former financial services professional who was personally frustrated by how confusing and uninspiring it can be to write a will, which led him to put off writing a will for several years.

We understand that most people want to live their life to the fullest, and in doing so, we often procrastinate writing a will.

There are a lot of different things to consider when writing a will and it can be hard to know where to start. It can also be time-consuming to navigate the range of different will writing services and decide which option is right for you.

We’re here to demystify the process and make it very easy for you to write a clear and legally-binding will. We strive to deliver products that are affordable and cater to a wide range of needs, so you don’t have to search around and delay writing your will.

We’re a team of qualified will writers and members of the Society of Will Writers (SWW), which means you’re in safe hands. We offer a 14-day no quibbles, money-back guarantee for our will writing services and we’re also fully insured up to £2 million. Our aim is 100% customer satisfaction with no compromises.

If there’s anything we can do to help or improve our service, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A will is a legal document that outlines your wishes for the distribution of your assets after you pass away. It also appoints an executor to carry out your wishes.

There are many reasons why you need a will. Here are a few of the most important ones:

    1) To ensure that your assets are distributed according to your wishes. If you pass away without a will, your assets will be distributed according to the rules of intestacy, which may not be what you want.

    2) To help simplify probate. Probate is the legal process of settling an estate. It can be time-consuming and expensive, and it can also be emotionally draining for your loved ones. A clearly written will can help to avoid many common challenges during probate.

    3) To appoint an executor. An executor is the person who will be responsible for carrying out your wishes as outlined in your will. It is important to appoint someone you trust and who is capable of handling this responsibility.

    4) To provide for your loved ones. A will can help you to provide for your loved ones, both financially and emotionally. You can specify who you want to inherit your assets, and you can also make arrangements for their care if they are not able to care for themselves.

If you do not have a will, it is important to get one as soon as possible. It is a simple and affordable way to ensure that your wishes are carried out after you pass away.

  • The specific details of what should be included in your will may vary depending on your individual circumstances. However, here are some of the most common things that people include in their wills:

    1) Your name and address

    2) The names of your beneficiaries (who you want to remember in your will).

    3) The gifts that you would like to leave to your beneficiaries.

    4) The name of your executor (who you want to handle your affairs when you pass away).

    5) Any other instructions, such as funeral arrangements, guardianship of your children, or who should look after your pets.

It is important to review your will regularly to make sure it still reflects your wishes. You should also update your will if your circumstances change, such as if you get married, divorced, or have children.

Your will also needs to be signed and witnessed by two adults, who are not beneficiaries or closely related to beneficiaries of the will.

Our online will writing platform is designed to ensure that your will is comprehensive and legally binding.

  • Writing a simple will using our online platform starts at £60 for a single will and £90 for a couples (mirror) will. This allows you to pass on your assets (including pets) to your loved ones, nominate your executors, assign guardians for your children, and record your funeral wishes, among several other things.

If you have more complex affairs and require an advanced will (for example, you wish to set-up a Trust in your will), this starts at £240 for a single will and £300 for a couples (mirror) will.

In both cases, your will is reviewed by a qualified will writer and when using our advanced will service, you also receive a 1:1 call with a will writer .

  • Put simply, Will Easy is easier, faster and cheaper than other options in the vast majority of cases.

Using a solicitor usually means paying by the hour for expertise that may not be necessary for the majority of people. If your estate is relatively straightforward, you could be much better off using a professional will writing service instead.

Writing a will yourself or using a DIY kit can be risky and may end-up costing your loved ones £1,000s down the line if the will is not written clearly or signed properly and is contested in court. We only suggest using a DIY will if you’re confident that your estate is sufficiently small and simple to not require grant of probate and is unlikely to be contested by family member.

Even in these cases, you may prefer the peace of mind that comes from having your will reviewed by a qualified expert.

  • There are a couple of scenarios when it’s better to use a different service to Will Easy:

    1) You are not ordinarily resident in England and Wales, or have property outside of the UK. Our online platform can only write wills that are legally binding in England and Wales. We don’t currently cover wills for Scotland or Northern Ireland, and if you own property abroad, it’s recommended to write a separate will that is legally binding in the relevant jurisdiction.

    2) You have a significantly large or complex estate. Will Easy is only insured up to £2 million, so if your estate is likely to be larger than this, we recommend using a solicitor instead. Similarly, if you are looking to set-up a complex trust structure or optimise inheritance tax liability, we recommend using a different service, such as a financial planner or solicitor.

    3) You have a very simple wishes or a small estate. You may prefer to use a DIY service if your estate is sufficiently simple or small to not require grant of probate. However, you may still benefit from the assurance and peace of mind that comes with our expert-reviewed service.

  • The will writing industry is self-regulated, unlike other areas of law. However, it is recommended to use a will writing service which is a member of a professional body such as the Society of Will Writers (SWW).

Will Easy is a member of the Society of Will Writers (SWW), the leading self-regulatory body for professional estate planners with over 1,700 members worldwide.

As SWW members, all our will writers are required to complete continuous professional education each year, be covered by professional indemnity insurance up to a minimum of £2 million, adhere to a code of practice and complaints procedure, and provide a 14-day statutory cooling-off period.

We also enjoy access to the SWW expert legal team who can assist with any complex circumstances, which may not be covered by our standard clauses.

In accordance to our SWW membership, we have full professional indemnity insurance, covered up to £2 million.
